(Available Worldwide July 21)

Renowned house and techno imprint Defected has teamed up with the esteemed German spinner for a double-disc installment of its 'In The House' mix series

In what promises to be one of the prime dance music compilations of 2013, Defected has teamed up the renowned Loco Dice to present Loco Dice In The House, due for release on July 21. Featuring tracks and remixes from cutting edge artists such as Kyle Hall, Skudge, Glimpse, Diplo, Marcel Dettmann and Dice himself, as well as a hand-picked selection of unreleased Desolat exclusives, this is an incredible release from an undisputed legend of the scene.
The union of Loco Dice and Defected may at first seem an unlikely one, but when you consider that both artist and label have tirelessly fought to promote the best in techno and house for over a decade, the pieces begin to fall into place. Dice himself explains how the collaboration came about:

“Defected is one of the labels that have always been in my record box” he says. "I have an entire section dedicated to them in my collection and I grew up with the label’s history. I think what they’re doing at the moment with combining a lot of different styles and bringing together a diverse range of artists is great. Defected has the freedom to do this, unlike a lot of labels. Of course I knew the name Simon [Dunmore] for years but we never had the chance to meet. Then last year at IMS Simon just sat down to talk to me; initially it wasn’t about business, just music. Eventually he asked me if I could do something for Defected, with as much freedom as I needed. For me it’s a great opportunity, and I always take compilations so seriously, as seriously as I would an album. I’m so happy with the results."
The results are, perhaps unsurprisingly, electrifying as Dice selects tracks from TsubaStrictly RhythmRunning Back,Sub LevelClone and more, from the housier vibes delivered through tracks like Franck Roger "Dont U Know" (Matthew Styles Club Mix) and Robert Dietz "Common" to dark harder-edged offerings in the vein of Skudge"Convolution," Marcel Dettmann "Ellipse" and Alden Tyrell "Rush."
Also included are four brand new tracks from Dice’s own label Desolat, all exclusive to this compilation: Jean Pierre"Who U Mad At," Brixton "LateUp," Federico Grazzini "Untouchable" and Nathan Barato "Give It To You."
Loco Dice himself is a true original, a relentlessly creative force of nature whose residencies at the world’s biggest clubs (DC10 and Amnesia, Ibiza among them), along with deft label management and production work, have elevated him to the ranks of an icon in the underground scene. Voted in the top 10 DJs of Resident Advisor’s highly respected end of year polls for the last three years in a row, Loco Dice is the undisputed king of the rolling, muscular basslines and delicately crafted atmospheres he creates with each of his sets. Defected presents Loco Dice In The House is the next step in a career that has been littered with unpredictable moves, backed up by glittering moments of genius.

Defected presents Loco Dice In The House exemplifies the open-minded attitude to electronic music embraced by both label and artist, and delivers a truly unique and timeless listening experience.

Loco Dice In The House will be available worldwide on Defected this July 22.

Sensation – the world’s leading dance event – presents its first U.S. tour “The Ocean Of White”

San Francisco…Las Vegas…Miami…New York

Ticket sales start Friday, June 14 at 10am local time

New York -- After a successful run of two sold out dates at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center in October 2012 - along with 90 Sensation events for millions of visitors in more than 20 countries since 2000 - Netherlands based ID&T, in conjunction with Goldenvoice, is pleased to announce the inaugural Sensation U.S. tour. Sensation will take placeSeptember 14 at Oracle Arena in Oakland, California; October 4 & 5 at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada; October 11 & 12 at AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, Florida and October 25 & 26 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Sensation will present to U.S. audiences “The Ocean Of White,” which premiered in Amsterdam, toured all over the world and performed last weekend in front of 30,000 people at the sold out Rogers Centre in Toronto marking the first Sensation Canada. With “The Ocean of White” the arena is transformed into a water world full of mysteries of the unexplored. All of us become part of a greater universe. This wondrous world of nocturnal sea life offers innumerous possibilities. Acrobats shoot from the ceiling, giant jellyfish hover above the dancefloor, as dj’s guide the crowd through uncharted waters of mesmerizing grooves and melodies.

Cities on the Sensation U.S. Tour were selected for the key role they play in shaping the country’s music and nightlife trends. It all kicks off in the San Francisco Bay Area, a region known historically for its independent art and music scenes. Sensation then shifts to the desert for a stay in Las Vegas; the city that defines what spectacle is all about. Heading south, Sensation takes over Miami, the tropical city that’s all about dance music 24/7. It all comes full circle in Brooklyn, the place where it all began for Sensation in the U.S. and ID&T’s home away from home.

White has a deep meaning for Sensation. The white dress code was instituted from the beginning as a way to pay tribute to ID&T (the organization behind Sensation) co-founder Miles Stutterheim who passed away in a tragic car accident. Miles’ funeral became a celebration of his life with guests arriving in white and DJs playing music in his memory. From that point on Miles’ brother and ID&T co-founder Duncan Stutterheim vowed to come together every year and throw a party honoring his life.

Just Be (Buskwacka!) Announces US Tour Dates

Set to Release “Don’t Make Me Wait For You” June 17 on Crosstown Rebels – listen here

Just Be has recently emerged as the latest project for prolific producer Matthew B, also known as one half of Layo & Bushwacka! . Just Be has held many guises throughout the years, and this latest undertaking is the product of his evolution as an artist who consistently pushes the boundaries of house and techno.

His first release under this moniker, “Don’t Make Me Wait For You” is set for release on June 17 on Damian Lazarus’ Crosstown Rebels imprint. The massive track featuring Jesse Monroe is a wonky slice of pent up tension and swelling moods, reminiscent of proto garage house classics with a touch of modern slinkiness.

Just Be’s sound has its foundation in the underground warehouse parties and illegal raves that inspired creative freedom and forward thinking production. He emerged from the melting pot of the UK music scene in the early 90s and was soon hosting up to four residencies in London every weekend. One of these was his 14-year residency at London’s legendary club The End, which gave him a platform to launch himself into the international circuit.

Just Be has always been influenced by the legendary island of Ibiza, where he regularly plays at Cocoon, DC-10 and Space. He also maintains his London roots, and his Shake It! Parties, which he curates and promotes with Layo are some of the biggest in the UK. Additionally, his musical output over the years has been phenomenal. With six artist albums and a seventh due this year, he has produced over 120 remixes, and 160 tracks for labels such as XL Recordings, End Recordings and his own labels Olmeto, Plank and Oblong.

Just Be will be offering up multiple releases in the coming summer months, starting with “Don’t Make We Wait For You.” Just Be is also embarking on a string of dates in the US and Canada, stopping by major cities throughout June.

Upcoming Just Be Tour Dates

June 14 San Francisco @ Loft Party

June 15 Montreal @ Stereo

June 20 Miami @ Treehouse

Marc Houle reveals new band project "La Folie"
The live premiere will take place at Berghain Kantine Berlin on June 5th, 2013

La Folie will debut their nocturnal synth pop at Berlin's Berghain Kantine on Wednesday June 5, 2013. A decade of musicianship, a diary full of heartbreak, and a chance encounter in Berlin preceded the birth of this project from Marc Houle and Joaquim dos Santos.

In both name and mood, the band look to 'la folie', the French phrase that describes the madness of love when one is madly in love. Theirs is a powerful type of pop music juxtaposition, made for uneasy easy listening. Joaquim and new live member Clelia Cantoro become stylized synth-pop automatons as their voices blend, echo and confront each other, while Marc draws lush shades of light and shadows from his orchestra of synthesizers.

La Folie's lyrical themes are universal, but the band has mostly existed as a secret project. La Folie began when Marc and Joaquim met through mutual friends and a mutual love of music ten years ago in Windsor, Canada. Fueled by Marc's affinity for production and Joaquim's anti-love songs, the two amassed a store of secret recordings that they crafted just for themselves.

Years later, when Marc and Joaquim had relocated to Berlin, and after a fortuitous meeting with Clelia, the final incarnation of La Folie was realized. Having written, recorded, re-recorded, refined and evolved their songs sketches over the years, La Folie developed from a passion project to a fully realized band in Marc's Berlin studio.

With the aid of Tobi Neumann's prowess as mixing engineer at his newly set up Apollo Studio Berlin, La Folie's debut 12-track album of bittersweet synth-pop laments is nearing completion. The album's tracks will be painstakingly recreated for the group's concert debut, which promises more of the intriguing juxtapositions that make the first glimpses of their debut video "Her New Dress" so compelling.

Matt ‘Radio Slave’ Edwards is one of electronic music’s true experimentalists, a man rooted in house and techno whose oeuvre reaches a much farther beyond. Celebrating his abilities, he has been selected to create the next edition of the esteemed Balance SeriesBalance 023: Radio Slave will be available in North America on June 11.

[Preview] Balance 023: Radio Slave (CD1 - 'White Skies') - Listen Now
[Preview] Balance 023: Radio Slave (CD2 - 'Maestros and Memories Part 1 & 2') - Listen Now

From the downtempo gloss of his Quiet Village project to a half-hour-long remix of Diddy to the audio-visual soundscape immersions of The Machine, he continually strives to push his music forward and keep himself on his toes. It’s this dedication to progression and eclecticism that imbues his 4/4 grooves with such texture and depth, something that runs equally through the releases on his acclaimed REKIDS imprint.
The idea of a double disc is something that totally suits me down to the ground” he explains. “I'm interested in so many types of music. So with the Balance compilation I knew I'd have to take one mix in a clubbier direction and then the second disc would be all about showcasing tracks from my favorite producers and creating an environment for home listening that isn't just wallpaper.”
Although it’s not immediately palpable, this mix is endowed with a sense of emotion that came from a turbulent few months for Edwards, making it a more personal musical account than your average mix CD. “This year has been a really tough one so far. I had a minor operation in January which went wrong and what was supposed to be a simple procedure turned into a real nightmare. I had to take 6 weeks off work, cancel a tour to the USA and I couldn't do anything but hope for a speedy recovery. I also split with my girlfriend and had a huge fight with a best friend which is so not me. It was a series of events that seemed totally out of control and it really threw me off balance. So, it meant I had to delay working on this project, but I still believe the end product might be even better due to the earlier events of the year. Emotions and experience are so important for me as an artist and I believe I work best when I need to lose myself in my work and immerse myself in music.”
Disc 1, sub-titled ‘White Skies,’ begins with a dash of found sound, taken from Edwards’ daily routine, segueing into the emotive strains of DJ Bone’s “Change” accapella. Stephan G & The Persuader’s 1997 roller “Kaos” begins the groove, with dainty melody shimmering subtly atop a throbbing, deep bassline. We soon find ourselves in familiar Radio Slave territory - deep, swirling techno and off-kilter chugging tech house. “This is really where my head is right now when it comes to club music and I wanted to compile a selection of music that I play in clubs and that really shouts quality and has a sense of hopefully being timeless. For me so much dance music these days is either replicating the past - like this currently mid-‘90s New Jersey revival - or made to be played and then replaced by the next fix, and I'm at a point where I still believe house and techno is about the future. Sure I love the odd disco edit but these days I wanna hear forward thinking music.”

Dystopian grooves characterize Disc 1’s first half, fragments of otherworldliness permeating his rolling, hypnotic grooves. It’s in the backwards pianos of his remix of Ian Pooley & Spencer Parker’s “Lurchen und Eulen” and the warped, distorted and dubby stabs of Svek’s Brommage Dub (another ‘97 gem). Timeline’s “Ghosts Of Greystone” jets into space from a Detroit launchpad, joining the dots between techno and jazz, and we’re gradually drawn into more organic sounds via the hazy keys of Fred P’s remix of Nina Kraviz’s “Choices” and to long-forgotten late-’80s afro-house from No Smoke.
Rasta vocals on Brotherhood’s “Memorial Smith” give way to a handful of classic and classically styled house tracks. This uplifting crescendo concludes with Prins Thomas whipping up Edwards’ “Tantakatan” into a rousing Balearic anthem, and Larry Heard’s sumptuous “First Call Of The Morning” giving a Muzak-inflected nod to our selector’s laidback work of years gone by. "’White Skies’ is a snapshot of a night out with me ”he says, “starting with my infamous lift and ending with the sounds of Lincoln Boulevard. The tracks within could be spaced over a 6-hour session at the Panorama Bar so this is a very condensed set and I just wanted to include some of my classics, some unreleased secret weapons and it's a mix that I'm sure would entertain my friends at an after party.”
Disc 2 travels through the deeper recesses of his record collection, soaking up ambient, downtempo and experimental flavors that are bound by a sense of majesty, melody and atmosphere. If ‘White Skies’ is Edwards as Radio Slave in Panorama Bar mode, ‘Maestros & Memories’ is him entertaining the eventual crack-on, more akin to his Quiet Village / The Machine expeditions. “I had the idea of doing a commercially available mix like this for a long time and I'm so happy that Balance were able to license the tracks. Tracks like Slum Village's “One” is an all time favorite and was such an inspiration to me and I'm not sure if a lot of people know this one. Also being able to use the Sakamoto track from Babel was crucial in the way I wanted to express a mix that was ambient but had tension and movement. And as with all mixes, with the limitations in time I wanted to take the listener through my record collection.”
Beatless soundscapes eschew in the mix’s beginnings before we emerge at the hazy, treacly beats of Theo Parrish remixing Skooby Laposky’s “Lighthouse” and the abrupt piano twinkles and stomping beats of the aforementioned Slum Village track. Low-slung funk carries us through the next phase, into the illustrious Balearic disco glamour of Linda Law’s “All The Night” from 1978 and the sumptuous strings of his Quiet Village beaut “Can’t Be Beat.” It’s into bleeps and bass next with a vintage F-Communications workout from D.S., then sombre contemporary jazz from Portico Quartet’s “Laker Boo” before Edwards cleverly segueways into Herbie Hancock’s seminal, minimalist 1974 workout “NoBu” - one of the earlier meetings of synths and jazz. The classic, ethereal twinkling of Software’s lush “Present Voice” rounds off this engrossing collection, with a final snippet of a week in the life of Radio Slave serving as an audial bookend to the proceedings.
“I'm constantly trying to always find the right balance of music for DJing and dig that bit deeper” concludes Edwards. “I hear so many underground DJs who think they're so cool but they don't even scratch the surface, and it makes me crazy as these people make so much money out the scene but don't invest anything back. So with the Balance CD I wanted to bring something different to the mixing desk.” With this masterful, perfectly judged collection of tracks from five decades of record collecting, he has undoubtedly succeeded in presenting a vision that’s a million miles away from the generic sounds filling up so many floors in this day and age.
