I can't wait to be back again and celebrate in full force before heading out to New York, my most beloved city in the world. To play all day long with the people that embraced me from the beginning is the ultimate form of love and I'm sure to give it back ten fold on 'day one' of 2014." - Nicole Moudaber

PIONEERING TECHNO PRODUCER AND DJ MARCO BAILEY OFFERS UP REVEALING AND PERSONAL DOCUMENTARY

approved for posting

Do you know techno? Marco Bailey certainly does. A pioneer of the genre since nearly its inception, Marco is an artist’s artist, a Godfather of sorts. Always an underground hero, Marco Bailey has been one of the constant fixtures in the techno scene, from the burgeoning rave movement of the early 1990’s, to today, where he is still a worldwide icon whose demand and passion has never waned.

But few really know Marco aside from fellow technophiles and his DJ peers, which is where the idea for this documentary was born. Who is Marco Bailey and why does his garner such widespread awe and appreciation for what he does?  Where did he get his start and what are the moments that shaped his remarkable DJ career?

‘Marco Bailey: The Documentary’ answers these questions and much more.

It’s a full on look at the legend from fellow artists, friends, colleagues and of course, Marco himself. Viewers will get to see what it’s like to be Marco from the most insiders’ point of view of all, Marcos.

I decided to create a documentary so fans and people all over the world, who are interested in techno, could understand a bit more about who I am. I wanted to show where I come from, how it started and perhaps prove that paying to become popular -something I see happens too much nowadays on the social networks and pools- isn’t fooling anyone. If you want it, you must work HARD for it!

-Marco Bailey

Techno is a lifestyle. It’s all consuming and not made for the casual dance music tourist.

Marco Bailey lives this mantra. He is musically revered for his magical ability to transfix dance floors into pulsating collective experiences that are all about the music. He’s an innovator that artists like Carl Cox and John Digweed can’t speak highly enough of. In fact, both Carl and John appear in the documentary, each legend extolling Marco’s skill and passion.

And it’s this passionate love of techno music that is truly what Marco’s story is about. How a man, who never had designs on DJing, felt the power of techno one night and then changed dance music forever.

This is Marco’s story.

FERRY CORSTEN FEATURING JENNY WAHLSTRÖM, “MANY WAYS,” SINGLE RELEASED NOVEMBER 18TH ON PREMIER RECORDINGS

New York, NY (October 23rd, 2013) – What does it take to stay on top of the global electronic dance music (EDM) scene for 21 years and never lose relevance? It takes an innate understanding of music, crowds, humanity. It also requires top-flight studio production and irresistible melodies. For these reasons, the Netherlands’ Ferry Corsten has been on top of the game for more than two decades, all the while outracing young guns forever nipping at his heels. On November 18th, Corsten releases his long-awaited single, “Many Ways” featuring Jenny Wahlström (Premier Recordings).

With a breathtakingly beautiful intro and Jenny Wahlström’s delectable vocals, Corsten crafts an uplifting and positively soaring song as at home on the summer festival circuit as it will be during peak time in America’s most luxurious superclubs. The melody and message of the song stand above and linger in the hearts of smiling, sweaty fans long after they have had their hands in-the-air. At a time when the growth of the genre known as EDM has reached explosive heights, Corsten brings the public dialogue back to the music with this high-energy, life-affirming song.

Hailing from Rotterdam, the Netherlands, Ferry Corsten has been a world-class DJ/producer for 21 years and his first album, Out Of The Blue, became an enormous success. Corsten has seven full-length studio albums under his belt: Looking Forward as Ferr; Out Of The Blue and Together as System F; and Right Of Way, L.E.F., Twice In A Blue Moon and WKND as Ferry Corsten. These seven albums have yielded more than their share of Gold records, including “Punk,” “Out Of The Blue,” “Rock Your Body Rock,” and other dancefloor anthems including “Made Of Love” featuring Betsie Larkin and “Radio Crash.” In 2006 when Corsten released “Fire” with Duran Duran frontman Simon LeBon, that record also became a radio hit. Corsten’s smash single, “Beautiful,” was released to widespread acclaim in 2007 and the song is still demanded by Corsten’s audiences today. A collaboration with Armin van Buuren on the WKND album in 2012 produced another clubland killer, “Brute.” Corsten heads Flashover Recordings, the label he founded in 2005. Corsten has released numerous compilations including in the Trance Nation series for Ministry Of Sound with more than 1 million copies sold. Corsten’s Once Upon A Night compilation series has itself been a platform for new talent, with volume four expected in 2014. Corsten has produced and remixed for Justin Bieber, U2, Moby, Faithless, The Killers, William Orbit, Duran Duran, Public Enemy, Nelly Furtado and many others. In 2007, Corsten launched his FULL ON live show concept whereby he melds different styles of dance music by playing back-to-back sets with his hand-picked roster of DJ/producer friends and a state-of-the-art stage setup. Corsten’s radio show, “Corsten’s Countdown,” was launched in 2007 and it is known as the only EDM interactive weekly music chart show. Corsten’s Countdown is currently broadcast in more than 40 countries via 210 radio stations including SiriusXM in the U.S.

From Chicago, Krewella makes king-size dance music that’s blunt, noisy — and often effective.”

—Jon Caramanica, NEW YORK TIMES (9/6/13)

“In fact, were it not for the moments where Jahan was behind a set of decks, twiddling knobs and such, this might be appear to be more pop concert than EDM show. What the Yousafs’ voices lack in pop gloss they make up for in solid pitch and fearless delivery. As firm as they plant their feet on stage, they deliver each note of their songs with a gusto that leaves no question of their intent to conquer.”

Moogfest 2014 and The Media Arts Project Announce Call to Artists
Festival Will Curate Public Art Exhibits Celebrating Synthesis of Art & Technology
ASHEVILLE, NC – October 21, 2013 – Over the last 50 years Moog Music has created technology that has given artists the ability to create and express themselves in new and limitless ways. Moogfest honors this spirit of innovation, embodied ion their founder Bob Moog through a five-day festival that highlights the intersection of art, music, performance and technology.
As part of the festivities, Moogfest and The Media Arts Project (MAP) are issuing an invitation to artists, musicians, designers, architects, engineers, innovators, scientists, and students to submit proposals for juried selection to contribute to Moogfest 2014. Between 5 and 10 submissions will be selected to be installed within the festival boundaries.
Design teams are asked to propose a freestanding, rapidly deployable temporary pavilion, structure or installation that embodies the interdisciplinary philosophy and innovation that Moog exemplifies. Designs should enhance the experience of the user by engaging multimedia and multi-sensory experiences of sound, structure, materiality, light and form. The objective is for each entry to emphasize the intersection of art and technology.
Participation is open to any individual or team who will be 18 years of age by the time registration closes on December 29th, 2013. Submissions will be accepted in digital format only. More information on proposal requirements, format and parameters, as well as the official application forms can be found at www.moogfest.com/map.
A jury comprised of MAP board members, Ursula Gullow and Brandon Pass, and Moogfest will review each submission.  Criteria to be considered includes:
  • Feasibility and structural integrity for public use
  • Appropriateness to legacy and mission of Moog Music and The Media Arts Project
  • Innovation and interdisciplinary approach to making
  • Rapidly deployable (must be constructed in less than 24 hours)
If selected, participants will install their pieces as a part of Moogfest and will receive an award of $1000. Special consideration will be given to North Carolina residents.
Stay updated on Moogfest through www.moogfest.com and on Facebook atwww.facebook.com/moogfest.
