Hidden Recordings News 8th Dec. 2011

Dear Friends,

It's with great pleasure that we announce the 15th release produced by the young, talented and fast rising French producer, Alejandro Trebor is available now exclusive to Beatport and also on vinyl at djshop.de. Known for his massive techno grooves, Quemadura del Sol is a pounding techno monster full of jaw-dropping bass that is eating up the dance-floors worldwide. We spared no one's soul in completing the release with some of techno finest producers today and talent soon to take center stage tomorrow: Perc, Raiz, Luigi Madonna, M.A.D.A. + Plankton, Subfractal, Tess Wassila, Jeff Keenan and Deepak Sharma + Dieter Krause.

Support for the release has reached a feverish pitch including from the likes of Speedy J, Alex Bau, Adam Beyer, Samuel L. Session, Alan Fitzpatrick, Slam, Audio Injection, Sasha Carassi, DJ Emerson, Pig & Dan and many more.

It doesn't get any bigger than Adam Beyer dropping label bosses Deepak Sharma + Dieter Krause remix during his gig at Berghain for the 15 Years of Drumcode party, and featuring the remix on Drumcode Radio #65:

http://www.drumcode.se/radio/tracklisting_DCR065.html

if that doesn't do it for you, how about these opening remarks in Magazine60: http://www.magazinesixty.com/?p=240
:
"Alejandro Trebor’s insanely heavy production has to be experienced at least once in your lifetime. Although, there’s not much in the way of hidden meaning here as you’re pulverized into total submission care of its relentless bass and vicious techno hardware."

We proud of the release and excited for you to enjoy it so please download now exclusively at Beatport.

And for vinyl lovers, you can find our records at djshop.de.

If you are loving the release, please 'like' us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter @HiddenRec. Feedback and applause welcome ;-)

John Dahlbäck drops two new singles

“Grunge” & “Phoenix”

***************************

John Dahlbäck’s back with a double dose of fire that’s heating up the global dance floor. First, it’s “Grunge,” the latest release on his very own Mutants imprint. As the tile implies, this track is dirty, greasy and downright nasty. It’s a peak time electro house. On the other hand, John Dahlbäck reaffirms his place as one of the most diverse producers with “Phoenix,” his newest release for Toolroom Records. Where “Grunge” brought the filth, “Phoenix” brings the beautiful synths, infectious hooks and rushing melodies. It’s simply beautiful.

2011 has been John Dahlbäck’s most prolific year; packed with a full global tour schedule and new releases on Toolroom, Spinnin’, Defected, Versuz, Big Beat/Atlantic NEWS,  Universal GAS, Universal Nordic, Ministry Of Sound Australia and One Love/Sony Australia. He’s also remixed Lady Gaga, Nicole Featuring 50 Cent, Skylar Gray, David Morales and Sneaky Soundsystem, among others. His recent Big Beat Records release “One Last Ride feat. Erik Hassle” was an international smash which caught the world’s attention when

Sebastian Ingrosso dropped the Tommy Trash remix nto Swedish House Mafia’s takeover of Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show.

John Dahlbäck is prepping for an even busier 2012 with the January 9 release of "Solider" on Spinnin’ Records and the February 4 release of a new double mix CD on Toolroom Records, among other exciting releases and live events.

Very excited to announce the release of the debut Nina Kraviz album to be released on Rekids in 2012. The self-titled album by the multi-talented Russian DJ, producer and singer is released on February 27th and is already tipped to be one of the most exciting debut artist albums of the year.

Nina Kraviz
Nina Kraviz releases debut album on Rekids in 2012
Matt ‘Radio Slave’ Edwards is proud to announce the release of Nina Kraviz’s eponymously entitled debut LP on his own revered Rekids imprint on 27th February 2012.
Muscovite Kraviz has risen swiftly to the top of many peoples’ ‘favourite producer’ pile in the last two years. It’s her simple but infectious take on deep house and techno which has seen the starlet release on connoisseur labels like Underground Quality, Cocoon, BPitch and, of course, Rekids.  Tracks like ‘Pain In The Ass’ and ‘I’m Week’ became instant classics upon release; their long grooves, sensuous touch and deeply emotive atmospheres were perfect for both darkened underground clubs and closer home listening.  So too did they showcase Kraviz’s deft production prowess, prove she was capable of writing proper songs and, at the same time, showcased the skilled DJ and ex promoter of Propaganda, Moscow to have a perfect voice with which to sing the lines she so elegantly writes.
All of those traits manifest themselves in Nina Kraviz (for an artist as idiosyncratic as this, it’s only right the title is an eponymous one) across the course of the album’s 14 tracks.  Surely informed by her experiences playing quality clubs like Fabric, Space and Panorama Bar each weekend, there is plenty to explore from stripped-bare house to deepest Detroit sounds via beautifully ambient pockets and more soul infused slo-mo jams.  All coated with an authentic analogue finish, the vast spaces Kraviz marks out for herself provide perfect chambers in which her own delicate vocals can be so beautifully suspended.
Playing out like a full artistic statement rather than just a collection of tracks, the odd time signatures, innocent and waify vocals, muted acid lines and hypnotic loops layered up by Nina all work subtly at pulling you into her world.  Nothing on the album reaches out to make a grab for your attention; its much mores sensitive than that, instead working its way under your skin and staying there much longer than most house or techno records.
Though it explores a number of different styles, surfaces and moods, there’s a simple underlying beauty which holds the whole of Nina Kraviz together, from the sparse acid daydream of opener “Walking in the Night” to the otherworldly and fatalistic ambient closer ‘Fire’ via the smooth classicist depths of tracks like “Love or Go.’  This is an album which sounds best digested as a whole, from start to finish. That way, you find yourself fully immersed in Kraviz’s most honest and heartfelt world, just as she intended.
The album is preceded by the release of the brilliant ‘Ghetto Kraviz’ single in November. It’s a bulbous, bouncing fusion of big bass notes, icy keys and creepy vocal patches that add up to something both fresh and arresting, much like the album overall.
Track Listing:
1.    Walking In The Night (with Hard Ton on 303)
2.    Aus (feat. King Aus on the Mic)
3.    Ghetto Kraviz
4.    Taxi Talk

Underworld announced as Music Directors for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games
•     Team of Senior Creatives for London 2012 Ceremonies complete
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games (LOCOG) today announced that British electronic music pioneers Underworld have been appointed Music Directors for the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games. The appointment completes the team of senior creatives that will lead the direction of the London 2012 Ceremonies.

Underworld duo Rick Smith and Karl Hyde will work alongside Oscar winning British filmmaker and producer Danny Boyle, Artistic Director of the Opening Ceremony and will be responsible for all the music in the three-hour ceremony taking place on 27 July next summer.

Underworld and Danny Boyle have enjoyed a long and diverse collaboration since Underworld’s track ‘Born Slippy’ featured in Boyle’s film ‘Trainspotting’. Over the following fifteen years the three developed a close relationship, with Smith and Hyde supplying specially created music for ‘A Life Less Ordinary’, ‘The Beach’ and co-scoring the 2007 sci-fi film ‘Sunshine’. In 2010 they came together again to work on the critically acclaimed National Theatre production of ‘Frankenstein’.

Danny Boyle said: ‘Appointing Underworld to direct the music in the Olympic Opening Ceremony is the final piece of the jigsaw for the team of leading British creatives who will deliver the ceremonies.
‘What’s interesting about working with them is how much broader their taste is than you might imagine. With ‘Frankenstein’ we really saw how far we could take a broader approach than we'd used together on the films.’
Rick Smith said: ‘The ‘Frankenstein’ project at the National Theatre was our opportunity to test ourselves as writers and music directors in a completely new environment - Danny asked us to take responsibility for every aspect of the sound and music and encouraged us to draw on a wide musical palette. It was a challenging piece of work with its roots in classic literature, that turned out to be the most fun I've ever had.’
Karl Hyde said: ‘We want to leave people with a musical memory of the show rather than a purely visual one. It's a great honour to be asked to do this and one we’re taking very seriously – it’s certainly not something we'll get the chance to do again.’
LOCOG has put in place a talented team of leading British creatives to lead the direction of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic ceremonies.
In May 2010 Stephen Daldry, Mark Fisher, Hamish Hamilton, and Catherine Ugwu, were appointed as Executive Producers across all four Ceremonies, and Danny Boyle, was appointed as Artistic Director for the Olympic Games Opening Ceremony.
In February 2011 Take That’s creative director Kim Gavin was appointed Artistic Director for the Closing Ceremonies of both the Olympic and Paralympic Games. He was joined by multi-award-winning stage and costume designer Es Devlin and Bond film composer and record producer David Arnold as part of the Closing Ceremonies team.
In June 2011 Jenny Sealey MBE and Bradley Hemmings were appointed as Artistic Directors of the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

GARY and his band will kick off a U.K tour beginning Wednesday, December 7. The short trek features a stop at the All Tomorrow’s Parties Festival in Minehead, Somerset on Saturday, December 20.

For DEAD SON RISING--a far more experimental and unique album than such previous releases as--Jagged, Pure and Exile--GARY teamed up with longtime collaborator ADE FENTON to co-write and produce the effort.  DEAD SON RISING is garnering early critical acclaim overseas and in the U.S.:

MOJO
(November 2011) “Its diversity is its strength. ‘Big Noise Transmission’ does what it says on the tin, but just as potent is ‘When The Sky Bleeds’ with skeletal electronic rhythms swelling into a chorus where Numan sounds surprisingly soulful. Brilliant!’”

ARTROCKER
“The untouchable mafia dons of the 20th Century are discussing him in deity-like terms (Prince: ‘There are still people trying to work out what a genius Gary Numan is.’). All of that certainly rings true when you’re dealing with an artist who sounds this good 30 years into their career. Gary Numan has delivered one of the great conceptual dystopian rock albums of all time . . . “(November 2011)

CLASSIC ROCK
“‘Synth-pop pioneer’s guitar crunch album is a cracker. The tracks ‘Dead Sun Rising’ and ‘Not The Love We Dream Of’ are as good as anything he’s ever done. Dead Son Rising is now and it’s excellent.’” (December 2011)

RECORD COLLECTOR
Experimental and classic Numan. Rather than resting on his laurels, Numan is out there fashioning new ones.” (November 2011)

UNCUT
Cold digital riffing and tuneful sci-fi sermons. 2011 looks like one of those years when Gary Numan finds himself in fashion.” (November 2011)

FMV MAGAZINE.Com
“…packed full of sinister grooves, dark disco and enigmatic goth-rock, with space left over for a bit of expansive soul-searching too.” (December 2011)

NUMAN continues to put the finishing touches on his new album for 2012 titled SPLINTER. This summer, he collaborated with Battles for their new single “My Machines,” out now on Warp Records, see video below which also features GARY. No doubt the renewed vigor came partly from his critically acclaimed tour last fall celebrating the 30th anniversary of his seminal album The Pleasure Principle. GARY and his band thrilled sold-out crowds across the U.S. late last year. Expect the group to announce a worldwide tour soon.
