(Los Angeles, CA – Feb. 13th, 2013) – Swedish House Mafia will hold a 3rd and final auction for tickets to their Black Tie Rave charity event being held Feb. 28th at New York City’s Hammerstein Ballroom. The newly released tickets will be up for auction starting Thursday, February 14th at 10am EST at http://www.ticketmaster.com with proceeds going to support the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City and Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund in support of hurricane Sandy relief efforts and Save the Children’s initiative to ensure the safety and well-being of all children in America, where nearly one in four lives in poverty. In the wake of the school massacre in Newtown, Connecticut on December 14th, the organization is calling for a National Commission on Children that will address the issues of violence, mental health and poverty. The first round of tickets were auctioned off in December and with under a third of the tickets sold, an astonishing $447,000 was raised and the second round earlier this month raised an additional $27,418. Legendary Pete Tong will fly in to support Swedish House Mafia at this special event alongside Carl Kennedy. In addition to the money raised by Black Tie Rave, all people guest listed on any date of the tour will be asked to make a donation to Save The Children.

The Swede’s highly anticipated One Last Tour is finally hitting stateside this week, kicking off tomorrow night with 5 shows at the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco. Anticipation for One Last Tour has been building since the dates were announced last year. The originally announced U.S. dates all sold out in minutes causing the group to add multiple shows. One Last Tour has become one of the biggest tours of the year and is the group’s most extensive outing ever. It will visit Chicago, Toronto, Montreal, NYC, Los Angeles and come to a close in Miami at ULTRA where Swedish House Mafia will play their final gig together. The full line up for One Last Tour was revealed last month. Armand Van Helden will play his first NYC gig in five years when he joins the Swedes at Madison Square Garden on March 1st alongside the Legendary Pete Tong. Pete Tong and Carl Kennedy will play with Swedish House Mafia at their Feb. 28th Black Tie Rave charity event and Tong will also open for the Swedes at Barclay’s Center on March 2nd. AN21, Anthony Atalla, Max Vangeli, NO_ID and Otto Knows will all open on select dates throughout the tour (full listing below).

In Los Angeles, the Swedes will build their massive 35,000 capacity Masquerade Motel on March 8th and 9th at the Los Angeles Historic Park. They will be joined by an all star line up spread over two stages which includes Alesso, Otto Knows, Mat Zo and Third Party playing the main stage and Nero (DJ Set), Sub Focus, Clockwork and Monsta in The Ballroom on March 8th. On March 9th, The Swedes will be joined again by Alesso on the main stage along with Zedd, AN21 & Max Vangeli & No ID with Sub Focus, Style of Eye, Clockwork and Monsta returning to The Ballroom. Doors open at 2:00pm, set times are listed below.  A trailer for the event can be seen at http://youtu.be/jw10uiXI0Tg.

A brand new Masquerade Motel Mixtape featuring the Masquerade Motel DJ’s can be streamed at http://smarturl.it/mm-mixtape.  A site map of the festival has been revealed on the SHM website so that Masquerade Motel guests can explore the motel. Fans can now purchase or upgrade existing GA tickets to a VIP package, aka know as “The Penthouse” which offers an exclusive entrance into the venue, VIP viewing area, private bathrooms, upgraded bar menu and a free mask. The VIP package is $175.00 or $75.00 to upgrade from an existing GA ticket.  All Masquerade Motel guests can also receive free METRO rides to and from the festival with their ticket. METRO riders will need to have at their receipt if picking up tickets at will call. Red, Blue, Gold and Expo lines all go to Union Station, which is a short walk to the festival entrance on College St. between Spring St. and Main St. For the best route or more info, visit the metro trip planner (www.metro.net) or call (323) GO METRO (323.446.3876).  Also just added to the festival is a screening of the Swedes 2010  documentary “Take One” which was filmed over the course of 2 years, 253 gigs and 15 countries by director Christian Larson and Henrik Hanson. The March 9th Masquerade Motel is sold out and tickets for the March 8th date are going quickly.

The massive One Last Tour outing started in November in Dubai and has made stops throughout India, Europe, Eastern Europe, Russia, Asia, Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, South Africa, Australia and Mexico before reaching the states.  The final show at Ultra wil mark a significant milestone in the group’s career together as Ultra is where Axwell, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso played their first festival headline in North America just 3 years ago.  Since that momentous show, they have experienced a meteoric rise to become one of the world’s biggest live acts.

“Don’t You Worry Child” continues to grow in America as it reached #2 on the Top 40 airplay charts last week and is currently #6 on the Billboard Hot 100, both marking the group’s highest entry on each chart.  The platinum, Grammy-nominated hit is the lead single from the Swedes’ second compilation album ‘UNTIL NOW’ which was released on October 22nd and forms the official soundtrack to the group’s massive world-wide One Last Tour (www.onelasttour.com). The DYWC video http://vevo.ly/OJMklQ has racked up over 57million views to date.

Romanian producer Petre Inspirescu is the latest contributor to the Fabric series. Released on February 18th, the album is arranged exclusively from his own productions with his newfound love of classical music weaving it's way into the album's entirety. Take a listen here: http://www.fabriclondon.com/store/fabric-68.html
The album launch party takes place at Fabric on 02 March 2013. Here's the line-up...

fabric 68: Petre Inspirescu

Artist: Petre Inspirescu
Release: fabric 68
Label: Fabric Records
Date: 18th February 2013
For Petre Inspirescu music has always been an adventure. Growing up after the Romanian revolution in a world bereft not just of the internet, but information in general, the man born Radu Dumitru Bodiu had to search harder and longer than most to find the music that excited him. To see it live meant exciting trips to the capital, something later mirrored during his burgeoning DJ career when buying vinyl meant arduous 24-hour trips across borders to Budapest or Prague.
“Growing up in a small city requires patience and total commitment to your dreams, so time stretches and opens the horizon. My family never restricted me from my activities so I guess I was lucky enough that I could choose my path.” Petre Inspirescu
The result of such devotion is a true dedication to the art, one that was rewarded early on in the man’s production career with releases on Luciano’s then highly influential Cadenza imprint, as well as with vocal support from stylistic brethren and tastemaker, Ricardo Villalobos.   Loosely rooted in house but with minimalism coursing through its veins, Petre’s sounds have often come in conjunction with fellow Romanians Raresh and Rhadoo on the trio’s own A:rpia:r imprint: it’s fitting really, as their sound is so idiosyncratic that it deserves a platform all of its own. Similarly, that Petre has exclusively used his own unreleased productions for fabric 68 makes perfect sense.
Petre’s recent and newfound love and appreciation of classical music permeates the deep structures and rhythms of fabric 68.  Everything about the music that makes up the mix is long and liquid, silky and sinewy, with myriad different bass, instrumental and percussive threads wobbling and scurrying their way along.  Each track tells a story or depicts a cinematic scene, be it the deft sound designs and slowly emerging grooves of opener “Lumiere”, the way candle lit pianos on “Anima” melt into the dark underlapping rhythms of the mysterious “Chosen” or the more nervy and unsettling moments of “Flurimba” where sweet but somehow desolate strings hang in the air above tumultuous kicks and synthetic sparks to mesmerising effect.
“I recorded the mix at home and arranged only from my own productions, as I wanted to try to offer a more classical touch to the music I make for the dancefloor and to present it to people. Some of the songs were recorded more than one year ago, maybe two, and some recently. The songs include recordings with a trio (violin, cello, piano) in my studio, other instruments, voice (soprano) and modular sounds.” - Petre Inspirescu
It’s an intricate trip, where frazzled synthesized sounds warp and weave themselves around more organic elements: hi hats seem to shimmer across the face of tracks then recede behind a film noir style string or a drifting, half remembered gypsy melody.  A genuinely unique statement that lays out a complex yet compulsive vision of house music, fabric 68 confirms that Petre Inspirescu is in a class of one.

Valentine’s Day- is for (Trance) Lovers.  What’s coming up Valentine’s Day weekend!

February can sometimes be a very happy or a very bleak time for a lot of people, but this year, everyone who’s a music fan should be feeling the love throughout the entire month thanks to the people who stop at nothing to give us complete aural pleasure, trance DJs. Today marks the 72 hour countdown until the beginning of the celebration tour of the 600th episode of the critically acclaimed radio show “A State of Trance” (ASOT) by none other than the legend himself Armin van Buuren. On Thursday, February 14th Armin will kick off the tour (known as The Expedition) with a pre-party in Madrid, Spain that will be live broadcasted all over the world. Joining him at the pre-party will be Alexander Popov, Lange, Giuseppe Ottoviani and Ronski Speed.  The Pre-Party broadcast will begin at 2PM EST and will last for 8 hours in its first edition. How’s that for a little Veda love from the trance family huh? :D http://www.astateoftrance.com/?home=1

As if that weren’t enough, on Saturday February 16th, The Expedition continues in Mexico City.  This time, joining Armin for this installment will be none other than Dash Berlin, W&W, Markus Schulz and for just a slightly drooling affect, a set featuring Max Graham vs. Protoculture. The lineup alone is stacked with talent and should make anyone burst at the seams with excitement.  The live broadcast for this event will begin at 8PM (CST) – 9 PM EST—it’s going to be one for the books.

Lastly, which is the event we’ve all been waiting for, as if music didn’t love us enough, Above and Beyond is coming to us  right here in Manhattan. That’s right, this Saturday, February 16th, Above and Beyond will have their Anujunabeats Vol.10 release party at the infamous Roseland Ballroom. The legendary trance trio along with Beckwith, Andrew Bayer and the incredible duo Norin and Rad will be blowing minds on Saturday night with a series of incredibly euphoric and uplifting beats that are sure to bring attendees to tears, The event itself has been sold out for months now and is anticipated to be one of the highlights of 2013..

If you thought that no-one loves you this holiday I’d have to tell you to look again. Because the Trance Family around the world, certainly will be sending audible loves and hugs for a good portion of this weekend.

Be sure to check our twitter feeds for more information on the live streams of ASOT of 14 February and 16 February so you can tune in.

Is it Thursday yet?? Have a great week guys and an even better Valentine’s weekend!

See you on the dance floor somewhere.

Jaro

Balance Presents jozif
Balance Music begins its new “Presents” Series, dedicated to the future champions of the electronic music world.
(Balance Music/North America Release Date: March 5)

After 22 editions of its renowned mix series, Balance Music is launching it’s new “Presents” Series, highlighting young talents who are emerging as future heavyweights in the world of electronic music. The first edition by English DJ/producer jozifBalance Presents jozif, will be available in North America on March 5.

“I think I'm one of those people that is always trying to make sure that dancefloor is having a good time without being too dictated by it” he says of his DJing mentality. “Initially for my Balance mix, I really wanted to do a clubby mix. A lot of people will know me only from my productions which I don’t really tend to play in the clubs as I tend to play a lot more 'up', so I wanted to do something that represented what I do on the weekends. I did the first version and we started to get the records cleared, but in the mean time a good friend of mine passed away suddenly and although I hadn’t seen him for a while, it really affected me. I didn’t think it was right to put out such an upbeat mix when such an awful thing had happened so I went back to the mix and just did another one and this is how it turned out.”

jozif has turned in a mix that blends the classic and the contemporary in exquisite fashion. He wears his emotive heart on his sleeve from the very first second of this masterful mix, the sorrowful strains of Charles Webster’s “Butterfly,” immediately piercing deep into the subconscious with its spine-tingling, bit-crushed melodies, lush ambient textures and heady vocals. From this Balearic slumber, he quickly adjusts the tempo to accommodate the slo-mo house chug of the late, great Martin Dawson’s sublime Glimpse collaboration “Our Friends Electric,” drenched in yearning pad chords and Depeche Mode undertones. Burnin’ Tears’ “Got A Reason” continues this blissed-out theme, harking back to the golden era of progressive house epitomized in Sasha & John Digweed’s seminal Northern Exposure mix.

Our selector draws us towards organic sounds on Lake Powell’s “More Or Less,” with softly muted piano motifs and rough organ chords woven deep below snappy beats to mesmerizing effect, before some subtle space funk is drawn into the fold via Yoko0’s deep “Blinded.” The mix reaches one of its stunning peaks with the heartstring-tugging beauty of Steffi’s “Sadness,” neo-soul refracted through the early morning beams of light that fire through Panorama bar’s shutters. From the depths rise bolder hooks, the melodic bass line and hazy chords of Silicone Soul’s “One Thing” paving the way and teeing up the sweeping strings and soaring vocals of “How I Feel” as the energy begins to swell.

Just as the beats threaten to keep rolling, jozif reins the percussive elements in and brings the focus back to hooks and melodies through Ian Pooley’s pulsating, synth-laden moment of euphoria “Compurhythm.” The burgeoning riffs then give way to the garagey vocal treatments and sumptuous depths of Sam Wallace’s shimmering “Echelon.” As we move towards the mix’s conclusion, jozif flexes his production muscle with two slices of musical sophistication that grip, beguile, progress and evolve in a microcosmic reflection of the mix as an entirety: the low-slung bass and delicate melodics of “BT’s 3,” and the scintillating string arrangements of “BT’s 5.” Both tracks put his love of cinematics at the fore, rousing us towards an epic finale. The hypnotic warmth of Rob Shields’ “Slum Room” rounds off in demure style, 808 bass throbs punctuating dramatic vocal snippets and distant, heavily effected guitar strums creating a pensive, reflective mood to lay the mix down to rest.

"We are very excited to invite jozif to be part of the Balance family of selectors" says Balance's Tom Pandzic,"and we believe he is the perfect choice to launch the new Balance presents compilation series, which will focus on the next generation of DJ/producers that are flying the flag for quality electronic music, and moving the scene forward."

jozif is one of the most exciting new names to come out of the underground in recent years. Born to a professional drummer and a Royal Ballet ballerina, art and musicality has long influenced his life and is easily audible in his DJing and production. jozif’s melodic, dark, and sensual take on deep house and downtempo music show a dedicated attention to grooves, harmony, and musicality. The intelligence behind his productions is clearly audible.

jozif cofounded the label Fist or Finger with Craig Richards, a limited edition, vinyl-only, experimental imprint dedicated to their vision of electronic music, while also releasing on renowned labels like Anjunadeep, Crosstown Rebels, Culprit, Wolf + Lamb and more. He has released a Resident Advisor podcast created entirely from his own productions and edits, and he has remixed or reworked a host of the undergrounds elite: Art Department, Damian Lazarus, Death on the Balcony, Dusky, Rui Da Silva, Sasha, Shonky, Steve Lawler and Subb-an.

Balance Presents jozif will be available in North America on March 5.
North American tour dates to be announced soon, check Facebook.com/jozifmusic for updates.

Rebel Rave Global Tour  - NYC Mar 2

x3CD Rebel Rave Release - March
Video courtesy of David Terranova http://youtu.be/G-lEpK20Jfc

The Crosstown Rebels story is one of cosmic magnitude. More than a record label, it has grown to encompass a growing group of admired musical misfits, a TV series, a mystical festival, and a philosophy for a collective of free spirits.  A pinnacle of ever-evolving quality, consistently reinventing the current landscape of music and touching souls around the globe with fresh iconic records and mind tripping, off-the-grid events, they are driven by a defining tight-knit global family. The dedicated crew of Rebels are caught in a worldly and unrelenting pursuit of fun and alternative ways of setting fire to their passions.

As Crosstown Rebels enters the tenth year since its birth, they mark the occasion with a world tour of epic proportions featuring some of its most colourful characters and a release illustrating why its become one of the most influential brands in the electronic music world. The three-disc compilation, Rebel Rave 3 is an aural mural of the label’s history, the first 2 discs examining the best of 2012’s releases and the final disc stitched together by Wunderkind Subb-an, a favourite in the Rebels camp (he also heads up One Records) who delves into the label’s most treasured moments of the past decade.

Still at the forefront of future-moving dance music, in 2013 Crosstown Rebels will prove why they have remained the electronic pioneering force of the past decade as they surpass this landmark moment in style with a world tour that takes in five continents and eighteen countries. As true party lovers, the Rebel’s global events hold legacies in the histories of countless night institutions and this tour promises no less with over twenty-five artists present and counting. Starting in Mexico, before heading to Puerto Rico, Peru, Australia, China, Japan, across America and Europe, the four-month voyage carrying the flagship Rebel Rave events are true indicators of the Rebels spirit.

The label has inspired countless unforgettable dancefloor moments and nurtured many universally revered music makers. Consistently riding high on end of year charts having delivered iconic club records throughout its history - from the timeless Mathew Jonson remix of Hiem’s ‘She’s The One’, to the chart topping ‘Speechless’ from Mish Mash and Miami anthem ‘Summertime’ that launched the career of Jamie Jones. Not forgetting 'Love Never Sleeps' from everyone’s favourite techno maverick Seth Troxler and the epic ‘Without You’ from the unstoppable duo Art Department - the Crosstown Rebels catalogue both induces waves of nostalgia and owns scene-altering moments.

Crosstown Rebels was born in 2003 by the master of discovery, label father Damian Lazarus. Driven by a child-like curiosity, a vivid imagination and wicked sense of humour, he invests boundless energy and enthusiasm into nurturing emerging producers around the world and sharing some of the most exciting and experimental music on the planet, leading to Crosstown Rebels being crowned no.1 label of 2011 by electronic bible Resident Advisor.

Jamie Jones delivered both his artist albums for the label and launched the Welsh house hero into the outer stratosphere. The first album on the imprint introduced the Chilean maestro, Pier Bucci and Maceo Plex, Art Department and Deniz Kurtel all brought their debut album releases to Crosstown Rebels in 2011 and more recently unheard debuts from Iranian/Canadian musician & vocalist Amirali and South American duo Fur Coat proved the Rebel state remains a thriving hotbed for influential talent. Looking to 2013 and their decade year, Infinity Ink, Subb-an and Ali Love’s latest solo project plus brand new DJ, producer and vocalist Francesca Lombardo will be breaking their projects on the label alongside follow up albums from Maceo Plex and Art Department, so set to be another heavyweight chapter.

Crosstown Rebels isn’t only synonymous with music. It’s unique and exquisitely produced film series Rebel Rave TV launched in 2009 in collaboration with the highly skilled film-maker David Terranova (http://blog.davidterranova.com/) . The Rebel Rave series has documented Rebel antics on an extensive global tour crossing the USA and Europe and the series is a consistent source of creative and cultural inspiration. At the tail end of 2012, in an ongoing quest to party outside the box, Lazarus formed a new festival project, Day Zero. A party for the new order taking events out of the usual club environment and into unusual spaces set to coincide with the end of the Mayan calendar at a pyramid site in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico. His podcast series, Lazpod continues to be a source of inspiration and an excursion into weird and wonderful sounds, often straying way beyond the dancefloor.

One thing however is for certain: a consistently innovative and timeless legacy has been left deeply imbedded within the electronic music scene by Crosstown Rebels and long may the forward thinking continue.

ABOUT PSYK
Psyk, aka Manuel Anós, is nowadays firmly pegged to the actual techno scene. He doesn't seem to deviate from his trajectory justifying thus his precocious artistic ascension (signed his first release with MINUS, at the age of 19). Even at a young age, he's been invited to DJ heavy hitting clubs such as Berghain in Berlin.

His worldwide sets in best clubs and festivals, have been crystallizing his talent as DJ. Thanks to fusions combining the deepest, puristic and raw techno and strong influences of house and minimal, his sets with hypnotic rhythm and full of special care in planning and progression of these, have made him one of the most talented DJ's in recent years.

SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO

“Live”

Live album released April 15th on Delicacies

Hey Fiona,

This spring, Simian Mobile Disco will release their first live album since the duo’s conception in 2005.  Live is a flawless mix of SMD releases, past and present, with some brilliant reworkings of some of their most infamous tracks. ‘Cruel Intentions’, ‘Hustler’ and ‘The Beat’, for instance, all feature with a more fevered and fervent strut, showcasing the duo’s effortless way with an infectious beat and a knack for destroying any dancefloor they’re put in charge of. The end result is an exhilarating blend of precise electronics, danceable rhythms and joyous aptitude.

James Ford and Jas Shaw, aka Simian Mobile Disco, have always had an envious ability to transform their sound while firmly staying at the forefront of contemporary music. Their earliest explorations were in an inimitable strain of indie dance that resulted in the now infamous ‘Attack Decay Sustain Release’. With their ever-evolving sound, they went onto release ‘Temporary Pleasure’ that featured a plethora of vocals from the likes of Alexis Taylor, Beth Ditto and Jamie Liddell. Most recently, they have released techno 12” compilation, ‘Delicacies,’ and last year’s critical praised ‘Unpatterns,’ described by XLR8R as SMD’s “magnum opus” making it to number 2 on XLR8R’s end of year album chart. This has seen the duo produce an altogether deeper club friendly sound – a psychedelic-tinged strain of electronic music which still sounds so singularly and utterly them.

This diverse musical excursion has led us to ‘Live’, an album recorded whilst on tour last year, during a performance in Philadelphia in one take, with no edits. With a background of feverish techno rhythms and bounce as well as some vintage analogue electronics, ‘Live’ perfectly displays the brilliance of SMD and is being released on their own Delicacies label. Fittingly, this is their first record distributed through the seminal German electronic label Kompakt.

In addition, this February Simian Mobile Disco will begin a five-date tour of Europe to warm up for summer festivals worldwide. Be sure to catch them live to witness the ‘Live’ experience, including a curated “Delicatessen” warehouse party in London, and get a preview from this video of James and Jas live at FYF in Los Angeles last year.

Bryan Kearney has been flying the flag for the 140 underground for the best part of a decade. His sound is uncompromising and his name is synonymous with the toughest, driving, underground acid-trance.

There’s prime time and then there’s Bryan Kearney.

With “The Nettle” he adds a whiff of the Goa acid vibe to his rock hard beats and voila – a beast is born.

Be careful – this Nettle stings!
