Join us for some Proper techno in Brooklyn. We are celebrating Jenny’s 33rd birthday in a safe, dark banging room with smoke effects and sound system ready to rip. We start our 10th year Twice as Proper with two special guests from Europe: Reggy Van Oers (US debut) and the return of Deepbass, back after his epic US Debut with us in 2014. 

Reggy Van Oers is a master of production and known across the globe for his techno performances while releasing records on labels such as Affin The Gods Planet, Informa Records, Translucent, Green and more. His own label Telemorth features deep techno originals and collaborations with most notable artists around. It is our pleasure to present this fantastic artist for the first time in Brooklyn.

Deepbass tracks are deep, dark, atmospherical techno released on top international techno labels such as Soma, Hypnus, Wunderblock, Edit Select, Dynamic Reflection as well has his own imprint, Informa Records. His productions are played by the most relevant names in techno, featured on major podcasts and played at international festivals around the world. He has been performing in all corners around the globe from Europe to Japan including venues such as Berlin’s Berghain and Tresor.

REGGY VAN OERS (RVO) has shown himself to be a DJ of class and a highly respected producer over the years. With a clear philosophy on the creation and manipulation of sound we can find his productions played by a large variety of artists across the globe. It is no surprise he is often asked to release on a wide range of labels which also paved the way to collaborate with well respected artists. His music has seen releases on labels like The Gods Planet, Informa, Affin and Green. It is safe to say his deep, minimalistic and atmospheric techno has definitely not gone unnoticed.

With his platform Telemorph, a tight bond between all artists involved, he creates a special place for solo releases and fruitful collaborations in order to expand their distinct musical journey. 

To extend this philosophy even further he founded Morph, with which he brings that same vision of sound to the embodiment of his concept. The artistic freedom and (label) family-spirited feel of the nights allow artists to be fully immersed into their craft. Mindset and artistry are the key pillars of these events.

DEEPBASS (Informa Records / Soma) - UK 

Whether doused in the grit of his hometown Glasgow, or expanded by the widescreen vistas of his current base, Barcelona, the music of Darren Roberts has asserted it´s uniqueness within his preferred form of expression, rolling and tunneling techno, strong on propulsion and atmosphere. Naming the project Deepbass was a strong statement of intent and commitment to a sound of his own, from the start. That he has in fact established it and remains on a path of constant perfection of it, is indicative of Darren´s personality and talent.

This consistent path has seen Deepbass put out records on labels such as Edit Select Records, Aconito Records, Dynamic Reflection and Soma, all the while enjoying a steady rise in recognition both with audience and peers. Along the way, he found in Italian producer Andrea Deplano, most widely known as Ness, a perfect foil for his vision of techno, with both collaborating on releases which displayed uncanny compatibility in sound between them. This commitment to the deeper, hypnotic side of techno is further proved by his own label, Informa Records, where releases by names like Reggy Van Oers, nAX_Acid, Claudio PRC, Takaaki Itoh, Ness, NX1, Hironori Takahashi are constant highlights for those who crave expansive and engrossing soundscapes.

What stands out from his production and performances is that Deepbass creates something identifiably his own, but refuses to ever be limited by it or to get comfortable repeating just one thing. Instead, he takes what´s already his own and streamlines it, sharpens it and nuances it. The origin and destination might be constant, but the path it takes and how the journey feels is ever-changing.

Born in NYC, Craft is a techno producer who has been dJing for 23 years. He began producing in 1999 and has released 13 EP’s, a concept album and countless remixes on over 36 labels based in a dozen countries. In 2014 he composed 4 tracks for a Mexican gangster movie projected in theatres around the country in 2017. He co-founded the underground techno events “Twice as Proper” in 2007 hosting 260 shows in the last 10 years. He is co-founder and host of a a radio show in the UK called “Feed The Raver” and is founder of the Party People™ brand which is represented by enthusiasts around the globe.

- HEADLINER (Feed The Raver / Twice as Proper) - Mexico City

Jenny Arredondo is a true Techno enthusiast. A music and dance-floor lover. A crazy healthy raver that would dance for hours and hours to proper Techno beats and bass. Her passion for music has no limits; she has music in her blood. You will often find her listening and discovering new tracks and artists, also at Techno events in NYC, Detroit or Berlin having the time of her life.

Jenny's music exploration journey in the studio began in 2012, she now produces under the names "Headliner" and "La Guru". Her album "Techno Inquisition" was released on November 16th 2013 and her second album ¨Ubiquitous¨ was released on December 28th 2014. Her track "Dark Invader" was included in the compilation REGENERATION by the Spanish label Doppt Zykkler//Series. Her latest track "Planck Epoch" was released on November 5th 2015 on the compilation by Deep Electronics called Deep Diversity Vol. 3

She has been a partner of the Twice As Proper events in NY since 2009. In 2012 she Co- Founded Feed The Raver with Craft, a podcast that features underground artists around the world. In 2015, Headliner also became part of Female Pressure, an international network of female artists in electronic music and digital arts founded by Electric Indigo. In 2016 she joined Aleatory Artist Management and Booking Agency as an agent representing several top artists for North and South America.

Designer, photographer, booking agent, event planner, a world trotter, a member of the "Party People" movement, president of the "Techno Inquisition". Her voice has been sampled to be used in many Techno productions by Craft and remixes by other producers as well.

- SHADI (Twice as Proper) - NYC

Born in Cairo, Egypt....raised in NYC from age 12, where he met up with his mentor and friend Daniele Ciocio (Dj Craft), who helped him manipulate vinyl ...and sound through a mixer. Flash forward to December 1999, Twilo, Sasha and Digweed & Mitsubishi = Lifelong Sound Obsession.
Along the way residencies at Mark Cafe With the Buyrum Crew, leading up to gigs with the likes of Jeff Mills, Eddie Richards & Silicone Soul and many more good friends and amazing musician party people like Lance Jordan, Amos Damon ( Dj Fame), Adam Collins, Francis Harris, Connie, Elon, Taimur & Fahad, Steven Letigre, Matias Jofre, Sleepy & Boo, Derek Marin, K1w1, Deepak Sharma and many more over the span of many New York City Venues such as Sullivan Room, Bar 13, Cielo, Rebel, Le Souk, Porch, Crudo, Boom, Stay, VDP as well as gigs in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico & Egypt PLUS Afterhours everywhere.. Currently Shadi is actively Running The New York City Based Underground Techno Events and Movement "Twice As Proper" With his Musical Partner Dj Craft Who together co-created the movement "Twice as Sweet" which was then renamed "Twice as Proper Sessions" with an impressive over 250 events and counting in the past 9 years alone with quite an illustrious list of guest DJ bookings.

- DEES (Aphotic) - NYC

Dees was introduced to electronic music in 2000 and started collecting CD's. She was inspired to begin mixing a decade later and today she often performs at warehouse afterhours. She is an active member of Brooklyn's Aphotic team since 2014 and is focused on the darker and deeper side of techno.

"Twice as Proper" and their founders:

Twice as Proper was founded in 2007 by Craft and Shadi as a weekly underground techno party held in Manhattan's Lower East Side. It focused on supporting underground local talent with residencies at Crudo Bar and The Porch (both venues now closed). The first 150 weekly events at these venues did not always have a new flyer. "Twice as Proper - Slut" was a series of 12 events aside from these residencies held in other basements accross Manhattan and Brooklyn. 

By 2010, monthly residencies began at legendary STAY afterhour basement and Boom (both now closed). The concept was exported to other cities with an event in Washington DC at Sweet Spot club (now closed) and 8 events accross stunning venues in Playa Del Carmen (Mexico). 

In 2011, Twice as Proper began a historic monthly residency at The National Underground basement in NYC (now sadly also closed) attracting international techno headliners and always supporting top local artists with 30 basement techno shows in 3 years. 

Twice as Proper hosted several Brooklyn showcases in recent years at Olivia, 407 Brooklyn warehouse, Ceremony, Studio 299 and Cellar 58. Internationally, shows in Mexico City at Suburbano basement, La Celestina and Rioma Club. 2017 marks the 10th year for the organization with more techno basements and warehouses featuring international guests. No crap.
